Please supply some detail about your connection to UW-Madison Continuing Studies.
My experience with Continuing Studies is a long one. Although I haven't taken any courses in the last five years, I remain in touch with one of my instructors from a previous UW-extension art studio class and continue to paint at his Atelier studio in Madison. The courses which I was enrolled in included art studio courses like oil painting and figure drawing in addition to a few classes in French language and culture.

Artist's Statement
While drawing is the foundation of representational art, I resist its possibilities to make art more directly, for myself, anyway, by going to the practice of oil painting. The challenge of using color to model a part of the face is as rewarding as tonal portrait drawings. Using creative avenues to meander through difficult passages creates a fun process when the pursuit of classically rendered portraits
becomes too tedious or difficult. The depth and breadth of painting are a wonderful means of making art.
